There are opportunities for our children on Sunday mornings during worship:

Nursery:
Children are always invited to participate in worship on Sunday mornings. However, we realize there are times when this is very difficult for young kids and their families. We have a nursery available and invite families to take advantage of this wonderful play space.

Kids’ Time:
At each of our worship services, we invite kids to join the pastor for a children’s message. After worship, kids from Pre-K to 1st grade are invited for a special time to read a story, sing songs and pray, while parents can have a cup of coffee and conversation.

Shepherds of Light (SOL) Ages 3 to 5th grade

Shepherds of Light is the primary learning opportunity for our kids that is held on Sunday mornings during worship. Children will leave worship after Kids Time and return to worship before Communion. This is a time for kids to learn about the same story adults are hearing in church, make crafts and play games.B

Stepping Stones:

From Pre-K to 5th grade, student will have a way to form their faith during Shepherds of Light, through Stepping Stones. Below is a list of what they will be learning, the dates they will be learning and when they will be recognized in church.

There are a variety of opportunities for kids outside of Sunday worship:

Alleluia Singers - 3rd to 8th grades

Alleluia Singers will practice on Sunday immediately following morning worship under the direction of Patti Arntz. Parents are invited to sip coffee, eat treats and enjoy conversations with each other while our children practice.

Christmas Program - all ages

All students are encouraged to participate in the Christmas Program in some way, whether it be in speaking, singing or back stage opportunities.

First Communion:

Everyone is invited to the Lord’s table for Holy Communion. Formal instruction is offered for children who are in 2nd grade, but any age is welcomed. Those who haven’t been prepared for Holy Communion, and do not feel ready to communion yet, are invited to receive a special blessing instead of bread and wine.

Vacation Bible School (VBS):
For a few hours a day during a week of each summer, Shepherd invites kids from Pre-K through 5th grade to Vacation Bible School (or “VBS”). This is an opportunity for new friends, fun experiments and games, incredible music, and learning about the Bible in the context of a unique theme!

Camp:
We are excited to send kids to camp every year. We believe in the power of the experience of Camp and we encourage kids to branch out and explore God's love in this unique way. Each year we send kids to Luther Crest Bible Camp in Alexandria. You can learn more about Luther Crest by visiting their website. More information about next year's camp will be made available in the Spring. Contact Pastor Sherri for more information about camp opportunities for all ages.
