The qualifications are simple, and the benefits are many. You would commit to one Saturday, morning to meet your child and then commit to prayer for them by name throughout the entire year. Cradle Roll
Each month parents of newborns through three year olds receive a splash pack. This is a monthly newsletter for families to help them as they continue to fulfill the promise made in at their child’s baptism. For many years Dorothy Bruer has passionately carried on this ministry by making sure every family received their newsletter. A sincere thank you goes out to Dorothy for helping to support our families at Shepherd.
From birth to graduation from high school,
our kids celebrate the following eleven stepping
stones:
1. Birth: A rose is placed on the altar and
they join the Cradle Roll. Each month for the
first three years of their lives, they receive
a Splash Pack newsletter. Every year, they get
a CD.
2. Baptism: When they come to the font, they
get a name card holder and a hand-made "Jesus
loves me" pillow.
3. At age three, we welcome them to Sunday
School and they are given a Beginner’s
Bible.
4. The next year, they are assigned prayer
partners and go over an "All About Prayer"
book at a retreat.
5. In Kindergarten, we welcome them to our
Wednesday Program and they get a "Shout
to the Lord Kids" CD.
6. In 1st grade, they learn the Lord’s Prayer and lead it in worship.
7. Then in 2nd grade, they learn the Apostles Creed and lead the prayer in worship..
8. In 3rd grade, they are given a Good News
Bible after attending a retreat.
9. This year all of our 2nd graders through 5th graders will take part in First Communion on Maundy Thursday after having a instructions and going to Paint Your Plate. The 5th graders will receive study Bible’s before starting Confirmation.
10. From 6th-8th grade, they attend Confirmation
- weekly on Wednesday nights. They make stoles
and present their Expressions of Faith. This
culminates in their Affirmation of Baptism.
They are given crosses and Message Bibles at
a banquet held in their honor.
11. In 12th grade, we celebrate their graduation
from high school with a brunch. They receive
a daily devotional.
