Guitar Classes are open to everyone on Wednesday nights from 6:00-6:30 pm in the youth room. We thank Ali Raney for teaching again this year. No experience necessary. Please let Ali know if you need a guitar.

New Confirmation Time! Wednesday, November 4 we will meet at 5:30 – 9:00 pm so we can attend Celebration of Confirmation hosted by the Minneapolis and St Paul Area Synods. We will travel together to the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St Paul. Please note the new time!

Parent Points are brief gatherings of Confirmation parents to discuss events and faith growth ideas for families. In October we meet from 7:30-7:50 pm on October 7 in the Adult Forum Room.

For MEA weekend, Sunday programs continue (October 18) with a special event: snakes and other reptiles will be our guests. Wednesday programs take a break (October 14).

Kids’ Creeds
Our Confirmation kids were asked to write their own creeds; what do they believe in? Here are two of their creeds:

I believe in life after death.
I believe that God lived and died for us.
I believe that our friends and family are the ones that keep us strong-willed.
I believe that we laugh with our parents more than we fight with them.
I believe we should be able to express ourselves and our feelings through music, fashion, and art. It is amazing that we have the opportunity to be unique. We each have special talents and I believe we should take advantage of them.
I believe that we should be grateful that we get the opportunity to have the great education we have.

And friends are a path to God.
I believe that home is a shelter for God’s word,
Music is a way to share our faith,
And church is a sanctuary.
I believe wisdom comes with experience,

And the Bible is a tool.
And Confirmation is a place to learn about God’s love.

From 6:30-8 p.m. each Wednesday during the school year our 6th-8th graders gather to learn more about the faith they will be affirming in May of their final year. They participate in service projects and retreats each year. Here is an overview of the program:

2008 – 2009: The Ten Commandments, The Old Testament, Baptism, Go Green (Fall Retreat)
2009 – 2010: The New Testament, The Apostles’ Creed, World Religions (Fall Retreat)
2010 – 2011: The Lord’s Prayer, Martin Luther, Holy Communion, Stewardship (Fall Retreat)
